Ios unabl to download item

Cheers mate. Having same issue. It started for me after I switched internet providers. Set my new network up and viola there it is.

I installed a new modem and new router after changing service providers. I try again and his phone works but then another does not.

Baffled by this. Any ideas please share. I started having problems after the new year started and cannot download CNN or a voice recorder update and had deleted those after a dozen tries. But the Weather and iMessage updates I was able to download and I downloaded a solitaire game.

I called Apple and they have no idea what is the problem or what do about it after talking to them for over an hour. I downloaded 9. So odd. How do I get apps please. I can download any other free app. Thanks for the tips. Your website is awesome. I always click some of your ads just to offer some support. Have a great day. I had the issue for months on end and tried all of the reported things to fix it.

None worked. I finally discovered that it was caused by the Overcast app that was trying to download some old podcasts that were no longer available online. When I deleted the incomplete downloads from Overcast the problem was finally gone. The general issue seems to be related to background downloads of apps, podcasts, music, etc.

It seems that many different causes can lead to the same cryptic popup. It would be helpful if the dialog displayed which download failed in which app, so that the user could take the correct action to cancel the download.

I was kept getting this same error message intermittently when connected to wifi over the past few months. Name required. Mail will not be published required. All Rights Reserved. Same issue here on iPad for several weeks. I thought maybe they would go away when I installed the latest iOS update No indication of malice or harm, just annoying. Sep 17, PM. Very annoying having this thing pop on your screen and having to stop everything to click retry or done or whatever. Sep 21, AM. Sep 30, PM in response to bmwood In response to bmwood. It just seems to be completely random. I was googling it tonight and came across your post. Hopefully someone comes here with a good solution. Sep 30, PM. Came back a few minutes later. I never experienced this problem until this year, despite using iPads since before This issue, which it would seem from a web search, has been around for years, is most frustrating. Can Apple really do no better than this?

Oct 3, AM. Getting the same inexplicable popup too, for at least the past month. Sep 19, AM. Good luck, folks. I believe it's definitely iBooks causing the issue.

Sep 19, PM in response to npfetmac In response to npfetmac. You know I think you and lyfwj might be right about iBooks being the culprit here, npfetmac. The pop up relief I've been experiencing may actually have been the result of disabling iBooks' ability to download content from the internet and not from preventing other apps from refreshing. I turned background refresh back on a couple of hours ago and have had not one pop up since. Sep 19, PM. Hi I too have been having this problem and cannot get rid of it either.

Followed your advice on ibooks but message just appeared again!! It started 2 days ago when I downloaded the u2 album I have since deleted the album from iTunes and the phone but still get message. There doesn't appear to be a pattern to it appearing. I currently have background app refresh on so will try taking one off at a time. It happens with either wifi or 3g on. I will also see if it appears with background app refresh off?? Sep 21, AM. I'm having this same issue on my brand new iPhone 6.

I think it must be something to do with the U2 album because I got that message when downloading it. Now the only time I get it is when I reboot my phone. When I hit retry nothing happens the box just goes it has become a real mystery. I have wiped u2 off everything!! I have turned off nearly everything that runs in background in all settings but still pops up every now and again. Sep 21, AM in response to bigquk In response to bigquk.

At least I only get it when I reboot my phone. I have also been dealing with this annoying pop up. I have apps background checking off. Have no iBooks downloaded and turned off the publisher search another poster mentioned. Removed any downloaded music. Tried disabling background app, disabling iBooks and many most if not all suggestions on here but still to no avail, happening on my iPad 4 and the wife's ipad2 and still getting the flaming least offensive word I could think of pop up.

I think there may be an update to fix this from the geeks at apple so may just have to wait til then, I just hope it's sooner than later Create a free Team What is Teams? Learn more. Asked 8 years, 8 months ago. Active 6 years, 3 months ago.

Jan Henckens 1 1 gold badge 12 12 silver badges 24 24 bronze badges. Tuesday Tuesday I have no jailbreak. Sometimes I wait until a stronger connection and I'm able to redownload. Does it seem to happen only with larger apps? I know that's not what you're looking for, but it's the most logical conclusion — Ryan Hollingsworth.

I have a strong Wi-Fi connection and plenty of space. I expect it probably does have something to do with the jailbreak, but even trying it in Safe Mode doesn't work.

I feel like we're leaning towards jailbreaking being the problem. I suggest backing it up if that works with jail broken phones and restoring the phone through iTunes to a legit status and see if the app will then update..
